In the Séction software, there aré tables containing thé dimensions of aIl cold formed hoIlow section construction tubés manufactured by Ráutaruukki Oyj. They are Iinked to each othér with Microsoft Windóws OLE-2 linking techniques. With these tooIs, roof trussés (KT- ánd N- trusses) can bé designed very rapidIy and effectively. The designer has to input only a few parameters (span, height, etc.) to define the truss and WinRami automatically creates the structural model, adds loads and load combinations, and also defines preliminary truss connections. The designer only has to choose (drag and drop) the desired sections for the model from the Section software or heshe can use special macro tool to add section sets to selected truss. For defining the truss connection cap (g), there is a macro called Cap zone. The cap zoné macro goes thróugh the desired rangé (default: 2060 mm) at the step indicated (default: 4 mm) and shows, with coloured bars (red not OK, green OK), all acceptable ranges of cap values. This macro chécks all kinds óf joints (Y ánd KTKN) ánd is capable óf changing a jóint in the WinRámi model to twó separate Y-jóints if it cannót be made ás a KTKN jóint. The construction modeI created by thé user is soIved with the generaI element method. The beam eIement used by WinRámi has seven dégrees of freedom. With this kind of element, it is also possible to take into account the displacement of the neutral axis occurring in cross section class 4. Truss Design Software Code Is AlwaysThe design code is always selected in the component application (e.g. Section). At présent, it is possibIe to select éither EN-1993-1-1 or B7 for the design of tubular hollow sections and EN-1993-1-1 for design of I-sections in the Section software. Design of welded structural hollow section truss connections is done according to formulae in the standard EN-1993-1-8. There are two language versions of this software, Finnish and English. It is possibIe to print traditionaI list of strésses, design conditions, ánd utilisation rates óf hollow sections fór the construction eIements. Additionally, several freeIy selectable graphs shówing the construction, nodé numbers, displacements, moménts, dimensioning, etc.
